I am a professional editor who can work with your words and within your voice to achieve the most suitable result for your chosen audience.

I have 30 years' experience as an editor, proofreader and indexer for publishers and individual authors, working on books, dissertations, theses, papers and articles, and on both non-fiction and fiction. Whether you require a straightforward proofread, more substantial editing, a structural rewrite or an index, I can work with you to achieve the result you desire.

I am a published author and have written for business, academic and fiction audiences. My industry background is in consulting, training and financial services, while my education is to doctoral level in history, resulting in an eclectic mix that ensures I can work effectively on many different subjects. Much of my work has been with authors whose first language is not English, helping them to find the best words in an unfamiliar tongue.

On sight of your material and clarification of your requirements I will provide you with a quote, together with a timescale. I ask for 50% payment up front, by bank transfer or PayPal, with the remainder due on completion of the work, and I provide a contract on request. For a job in Microsoft Word, I return to you two files, one showing the tracked changes and the other with all the changes accepted, so that it is clean to read.
